Service Provided The Day Centre offers an opportunity for participants to interact with others, and enjoy a day out while providing caregivers a rest from looking after their loved one.
Client Fees Clients are charged $20 per day of attendance. Additional fees are charged for services such as footcare, whirlpool bathing, shopping trips. Client fees are reviewed by the Board of Directors on an annual basis. Clients in need may apply for financial assistance.
Lunch and Refreshments Lunch is provided to all clients at the Day Centre. Dietary needs are monitored by nursing staff. Having a nutritious lunch in a social setting is a highlight of the day for most. Light refreshments are provided in the morning and afternoon.
Transportation Transportation to and from the program is provided by the agency and included in the daily fee. Trained volunteers, accessible agency vehicles, and community transportation services are arranged for you to have a safe trip to and from the Centre.
Leisure Activities A wide variety of social, recreational and educational activities are provided throughout the day which are appropriate to all levels of activity. Some activities offered are: exercises – entertainment – discussion groups – dancing – music – guest speakers – horticulture – games – special celebrations – crafts – singing – table games.
A Typical Day A typical day should start with a welcoming smile and a hot cup of tea or coffee, then with a discussion group on the theme of the day. Exercise time rounds out the morning before lunch. After lunch word games, physical games and table games take place along with some of the planned activities mentioned above in Leisure Activities. Activities Calendar An annual printed Thematic Activity Calendar is given to all clients so they can plan for up coming activities.
Special Events Each Day Centre has different events planned throughout the year. Some sites offer escorted shopping trips to local malls and occasional Saturday or Evening Programs. Twice a year, the Centres get together for Midwestern Days which consist of great entertainment, a delicious meal and a chance to catch up with all of our friends at the different sites.
Personal Care Services Assistance is provided for individuals who require support with meals, medications, mobility, washroom assistance or bathing.
Whirlpool Bathing Hydrotherapy provides massage to aching muscles and joints and an operated lift allows ease and safety in entering the tub. Individuals may request a bath appointment during their day. Trained staff will assist with bath and personal care, A nominal fee is charged for this service. A doctor’s consent is required prior to receiving bathing.
Foot Care Foot care can be provided by the certified nurses on site throughout the program day. The nurse is qualified to provide care for clients and those with diabetes. We offer a variety of treatments for those who have mobility difficulties, need assistance with care and clipping and pampering. Referral will be made if needed for advanced treatment.
Hair Dressing The Grand Bend site is equipped to provide hair care service. Please call the site Coordinator for details of this service.
Nursing Provision R.P.N.’s offer health information to clients attending the program. They monitor individual blood pressure and weight and dispense medications throughout the day. The R.P.N. works with clients to assist them with their individual needs.

Other Services
Stroke Program The Clinton site offers one day a week for stroke clients. The program provides individual therapy programs to assist with the rehabilitation of that individual. A supported social program gives the individual the confidence to rebuild their lives. Contact Jeanette Masse for further information.
SAYS – Stroke and You Surviving An informal group of stroke survivors, their caregivers, family and friends who come together the second Thursday of every month. We discuss topics of interest to all, socialize and help one another in a comfortable and confidential setting. Contact Jeanette Masse for further information.
