Volunteering

AngelaShare Your Day with Us.
Are you interested in helping seniors and people who face physical challenges?  Volunteer involvement in our daily activities creates a caring atmosphere which enriches the lives of our clients.  The skills and talents of volunteers are utilized in various ways to enhance the services offered.

A complete volunteer program ensures volunteers receive the full support they need for the important roles they provide.  We appreciate the efforts of our volunteers and celebrate their contributions every day.

  • Help with client activities as a Program Volunteer
  • Assist with Special Events by selling tickets and helping with special activities
  • Help the cook prepare meals for the clients as a Kitchen Volunteer

Active recruitment ensures volunteers are available to enhance day centre activities.  The Day Centre also accepts placement students from high schools, college and university courses.

Screening, Training and Evaluation
Potential volunteers fill out an application form, supply references, complete a criminal reference check and have an interview.   Volunteer Drivers must have proof of a valid license and insurance.   All volunteers will receive orientation to their site and position and specific training for their volunteer role is also provided.  Ongoing training and education takes place throughout the year.  All volunteers complete an Agency Service Review annually to ensure they have the opportunity to provide feedback.  Evaluation ensures volunteer satisfaction within their role.

Ontario Volunteer awards 2007Recognition
Volunteers are an integral part of the Midwestern Adult Day Services Team and without them it would be impossible to provide our programs.  Ongoing recognition is informal everyday and formally at an annual recognition event where volunteers are also rewarded for years of service.

    Quotes from a Volunteer:
“It set up my week. I have always received as much as I have given.”

“ I need to do this. If I can’t do it then I feel a void.
I get far more than I give.
This is a real special place.
